In Memory of the Animals
Sold to Slaughter
by the Wagner Farm / Glenview Clovers 4H.
May these animals rest in peace in a better place with only love in their spiritual world, and may the standards of brutality now associated with Wagner Farm / Glenview Clovers 4H be replaced with kindness and respect for the lives of innocent creatures.
We will not allow these animals to have died in vain.
2011

As it was in 2010 and the years prior since the inception of the Glenview Clovers 4H program, the death toll of animals continued in 2011 stemming from programming at the Glenview (IL) Park District's tax payer purchased and supported Wagner Farm. More than 20 lambs and pigs from the Glenview Clovers 4H group were taken to the Lake County (IL) fair to be sold for slaughter, despite humane options being available through Wagner Farm Rescue Fund.
Animal programs ending in cruel slaughter should not be run from tax payer purchased and supported property and sanctioned by personnel whose salaries are paid by tax payers. Programs like 4H can be successfully run without animal exploitation as well as be administered by those who wish to work with, rather than against, others who promote humane treatment of animals. Personnel who choose to promote humane programming need to be placed in Wagner Farm job positions.
These 2011 Glenview Clovers 4H lambs and pigs are now dead. They no longer have a voice to let the world know that they were here; that they were living beings and their lives mattered. They no longer have a chance to plead for their very own lives. Individuals who support compassion must act as the animals' voices. We must be the continuing voices for any animals scheduled to come to Wagner Farm in the future who would meet the same inhumane fate of slaughter, or be exploited through any means of inhumane programs. With our voices, humane programming can and must be implemented ongoing through all Wagner Farm programs.

2010

17 lambs and 10 pigs, all about 5 months old, were sold to auction and brutal deaths on July 31, 2010, even though payment and humane placement for them was available and offered to them by Wagner Farm Rescue Fund, which Wagner Farm / Glenview Clovers 4H rejected.
Wagner Farm / 4H must and will continue to be held responsible for the deaths of these 27 animals. These 27 animals are only part of the long history of brutal animal deaths associated with Wagner Farm / Glenview Clovers 4H who are intentionally choosing the least humane outcomes for these animals.
